Home Security
- Before opening the door, use the door viewer.
- Always ask for identification from strangers (even repair or sales persons).
- Lock up your home before leaving. If you are out for the evening, leave on several lights and a radio. From the outside of your house, it should look as if someone is home.
Traveling with Valuables
To all our guests and visitors staying in our Inns and Motels
Safety Tip:
Leave your cherished valuables at home! If you must bring valuable items, inquire about a hotel safe. You should always have a detailed description or pictures of your valuables. This will give police and others a better chance of identifying those objects. Having insurance for the items is always a good idea.
Even with today’s high-tech police equipment, only about twenty percent of burglaries are solved.
Call the police immediately if your valuables are lost or stolen.
Traveling on Vacation
Safety Tip:
Nothing can spoil a good time more than getting into an accident. The experience can be even worse if you are on vacation and a long way from home.
Even the most minor vehicle mishap can cause a major inconvenience to a traveler.
The following are some safety tips:
If you are lost and need to read a map or your GPS, pull off the road in a safe place in order to do so.
If you are sightseeing and you want to spend time photographing or just looking longer, pull completely off the road in a safe place.
If you miss your destination/turn/exit, keep driving until there is a safe place to turn around and return to the location. Do not back up in the road, slam on your breaks or try to make a last minute hurried turn.
Pay attention to speed limits and other various signs. Heed parking signs and parking bans. These signs are posted in the interest of public safety and are enforced. If the parking space you desire is not open, do not make your own.
