BURN PIT INSTRUCTIONS:
- Non-treated wood without nails can go into the burn pits.
- All ribbons and decorations must be removed from wreaths and trees.
- Painted, glued, press board or anything with nails can NOT go into the burn pit. It must go into the construction container and there is a fee.
Transfer Station stickers are mandatory and must be on your vehicle. These stickers can be obtained thru the Town Clerk-Tax Collector Office and the Selectmen’s Office during normal business hours. They can also be obtained by submitting a transfer station sticker request form located on our website and sent with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Jackson residents are allowed 2 stickers per property (no matter how many vehicles are registered). If you have more than 2 vehicles, you may choose which 2 to take to the transfer station.
As of January 1, 2008. RSA 149-M:58 bans the disposal of mercury-added products at any solid waste landfill, transfer station, recycling facility or incinerator. Homeowners and businesses alike are affected by the ban on such items as thermometers, thermostats, electrical switches, mercury button cell batteries and fluorescent light bulbs, including compact fluorescent bulbs.
Illegal dumping can and will result in a $250.00 fine; including knowingly disposing of a fee item without paying the required fee.
